On October 30, BYD officially announced that its all-new BYD Seal 07 (officially referred to as the second generation), a mid-size sedan, will launch on November 5. Furthermore, the company has already opened reservations for the new vehicle. As a revamped model, this sedan boasts a wheelbase of 2960 mm and offers both plug-in hybrid (such as the BYD Seal DM-i) and pure electric (EV) powertrain systems.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
In terms of exterior design, the vehicle adopts the Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language. Its closed front grille, paired with wave-shaped headlights identical to those on the Seal 08, provides excellent visual recognition. The rear features wave-shaped, full-width taillights that perfectly echo the front end. Regarding dimensions, the new car measures 5080/1960/1495 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2960 mm. The length, width, and wheelbase have all increased compared to the outgoing model, resulting in a more spacious cabin. It is available in six exterior colors: Pala Green, Aurora Pink, Sea Mist Purple, Luminous Silver, Snow White, and Obsidian Black.
Smart Technology and Interior Comfort
For driving assistance, the new vehicle is equipped with a LiDAR module and is expected to feature the “Eye of the Gods” B advanced driver assistance system. This supports City Navigation on Autopilot (CNOA), Highway Navigation on Autopilot (HNOA), and all-scenario intelligent parking assistance (including automated parking, remote parking, and drop-off automated parking).
Inside, the car features a wraparound cabin design, complemented by a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a floating central touchscreen, giving it a highly refined feel. Additionally, the vehicle includes a single-side wireless phone charging pad and a dedicated tissue storage compartment to enhance everyday convenience. Other features include zero-gravity seats, seat massage/ventilation/heating, and a 20-speaker Devialet audio system. The interior is available in three colors: Cloud White, Phantom Grey, and Nightfall Purple.
Powertrain Options
Regarding powertrains, based on previous regulatory filing information, the BYD Seal DM-i (plug-in hybrid version) will be powered by a 1.5T turbocharged engine with a maximum output of 115 kW, paired with a 160 kW drive motor. It features a 38.029 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTC pure electric range of 245 km. The pure electric variant will be equipped with a 300 kW drive motor.
